What is the value of a hearing aid?

Widex Hearing Aids

This is a very common question which has no word answer as there are several factors which influences the price of a hearing aid.

The price is based upon the hearing aid technology level, the style of the hearing aid and the aftercare provided by the hearing care professional. At IHearClear all of our hearing aids come with a 3-5 years manufacturer warranty and you will remain under our care for this period of time. IHearClear will offer a follow up appointments (at no extra cost) once you have had your hearing aids fitted followed by routine servicing and further follow up appointments at one of our clinics in Leicester or Huddersfield.

There is so much we can talk about with regards to the value of a hearing aid. The client will only see the end product but behind the plastic casing they are components which allow us to support all degrees of hearing loss. The cost of the hearing aid is dependent upon the mechanics of the digital device. A Hearing aid is made up of the following components: microphone, amplifier, microchip, receiver and a battery. These components can be manipulated to form the following types of hearing aids:

  • Behind the ear (BTE) hearing aid which is connected to either a mould or thin plastic tube to deliver the sound to the rest of your ear.
  • Receiver in the canal (RIC) is smaller than a BTE with the hearing aid sitting behind the ear connected by the very fine wire to the receiver (loudspeaker) which sits in your ear canal.
  • In the ear/canal (ITC/ITE) which covers the entire outer ear or at the entrance of the ear canal.
  • Invisible in the canal (IIC) which sits deeps in the ear canal making it invisible.
